what is supernatural about the supernatural

Today I was researching the supernatural genre, and it got me thinking how Its introduced in a movie opening.

Many supernatural movie intros start off with a sense of the unknown that makes a suspense start to the movie. "The Sixth Sense" for example the movie introduces a child who claims to see the dead at the beginning. leaving audiences with curiosity and but also have a feeling of uncanny. But it doesn't completely separate the real world to this it adds a magical element to it. One feature in supernatural opening is the use of lighting. Whether it's the candlelight flickering in a house to indicate a ghost or the glow of moonlight in a forest for a werewolf, the lighting choices are deliberate and contribute significantly to the eerie atmosphere, that is now commonly known within this genre.

Perhaps the most interesting aspect is the teasing of the supernatural things happing without revealing too much. These intros are great in suspense, offering glimpses of the mysterious forces at play while keeping the most of the supernatural elements hidden yet watching many of these types of movies each different class of the supernatural has there own type of intros that let the audience know what they're getting into. these intros are created specifically to leave audiences on the edge of their seats, waiting for answers.
